Tragic TV Couples

There are many couples we root for from the beginning of the show to end of the show. Some get their happy endings, some do not and some never get started. Here is my list for my favorite couples who never got their happy ending. If you have not seen these shows, I might be spoiling it for you. Who are your favorite tragic couples?

5. Maxie Jones and Anyone she dates (General Hospital) –
My favorite character on General Hospital is Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms). She is a spunky fashionista who has the tendency to date men that die. The reason they die is because this damn show is obsessed with glorifying criminals and killing off good men. Her boyfriend Jesse (http://youtu.be/NIAAv5ODc3w) was killed at a carnival and her boyfriend Coop (http://youtu.be/aWp6XEn7YH4) was killed by a serial killer. Her character deserves a great coupling (Not Spinelli) that lasts longer than a year.
4. Piper Halliwell and Mark – the dead guy (Charmed) –
One of my first character specific favorite episodes of Charmed deals with Piper(Holly Marie Combs) who helps a ghost. The ghost is a guy named Mark (John Cho) who shares an interest in cooking and his chemistry with Piper is great. I know she was meant for Leo but I really loved the character of Mark and the emotional connection he shared with Piper. (http://youtu.be/dkJPZRfGEGg) Couldn’t find an actual scene but Charmed is on Netflix instance and this episode is called Dead Man Dating
3. Nick Knight and Natalie Lambert – (Forever Knight)
You know I had to have at least one vampire in this countdown. The first vampire show I got into was Forever Knight. It was part of the “Crimetime after Primetime” late night television when I was growing up. The couple du jour was Nick (Geraint Wyn Davies) and Natalie (Catherine Disher). He was the vampire wanting to be human and she was the medical examiner determined to helped him. Their friendship grew into love and you really really wanted a happy ending for them but alas no such luck. (http://youtu.be/n3sjrfS_QyE)
2. Lorelai Gilmore and Luke Danes – (Gilmore Girls)
Talk about a total screw up of a great tv couple. When the creators/writers of the show left after Season 6, the Luke (Scott Patterson)/Lorelai (Lauren Graham) saga was in transition that was never reconnected. Their first kiss (http://youtu.be/PXhJ95_1I48) not until Season 4 was so great and exciting. It gave fans everything they had been hoping for as we had watched these two love other people while dancing around their own attraction. It was just so sad the show ended before the relationship between the two could be mended. I watched week after week to see these two characters love, fight, console and help each other through all of life’s obstacles. Luke’s love of Lorelai’s daughter Rory gave us even more hope that these two would eventually find their happy ever after.
1. Samantha Waters and Nick Cooper – Profiler
This couple truly had a tragic ending that had me crying my eyes out. I never really forgave the show for that. Sam Waters (Ally Walker) was an uptight criminal profiler who met and fell in love with the laid back adorable Nick Cooper (A Martinez). Coop brought out the softer and fun side of Samantha and it was nice to see some light in this very very dark show. When Coop is killed by the serial killer Jack of All Trades and his sidekick Jill, it is so sad and devastating for both the character of Sam and the fans. Sorry for the audio on this one (http://youtu.be/NIxdnUs8-zc)
